City of Cologne: Cologne Cathedral

As the landmark of Cologne the Cathedral enjoys worldwide fame. More than six million visitors come to see it every year and for good reason because this masterpiece of Gothic architecture, built between 1248 and 1880, is a real must-see. Besides the world-famous Shrine of the Three Kings from the Middle Ages the UNESCO World Heritage Site now also boasts a masterly artistic achievement from the present day: since 2007 the Cathedral’s visitors have been able to admire the new window designed by Gerhard Richter.
